OK…so what exactly is ecotourism? The Ecotourism Society defines it as “responsible travel to natural areas which conserves the environment and improves the welfare of the local people”. So a trip to the Everglades isn’t necessarily ecotourism unless it somehow benefits the environment or the peopel who reside there. The historic city of Punta Gorda offers ecotourists a variety of options to enjoy.
